My belief is that MMOs are created by their community

FFXIV has opened my eyes to admiring the actions of people around you. I took a trip to Limsa to rank up with the ol' redcoats (malestrom I believe is the actual name. Idk I started in Limsa so they're my obligated choice.) and as I loaded into the plaza, I smelt an old tune. It was hard to tell what it was at first and I was aware that bards play instruments to some extent for a bit of class. I didn't realize that bards could buy an electric guitar and then play Enter Sandman from Metallica.

For about 15 minutes, I was there during his entire set. Metallica, Nirvana and some other classic rock bands were playing on the radio. At this point, I am looking at the crowd of people gathered around him and what is it? The most sinister thing Lala ever witnessed. What's that? A M.Bison cosplay glamour. Who are these people who are walking around the plaza and rolling in various poses to display their beauty? What's that expression and where can I find it? The minion looks adorable. What is it? You can get this minion from an adventure! Absolutely not!

A Incredible Hulk-looking dude was teaching crafting to a group of sprouts by the elevator to the Wench. There was another bard playing an EDM sort of nonsense with a harp with cat girls flashing glow sticks.

I was surrounded by lots of player-driven, made by players, and loved by players. The people weren't stopping by Limsa for a quick sale and to go on their next adventure for an unbeatable BiS or an unusual mount. They were just doing what they like playing with other players who love doing what they love.

To the FFXIV players who have only or mainly exclusively played FFXIV. I'm not trying to hype this in the name of farm Karma. WoW does not allow for this. The closest thing to this that I have experienced during the last six years of WoW was walking around cities, in a circular fashion, with 20 other players sharing the same mount. Cities are for vendors, auctions, and waiting to join WoW. It's not like WoW has any conversations, and certainly nobody gives crafting lessons or has concerts. It is rare to get a response when you ask a player about an appearance for an item.

My belief is that MMOs are created by their community. And FFXIV according to the ones I've been able to see and joined in, has lots to live. 43 levels of play and enjoying every minute of ARR.
